Do you know a budding young beekeeper?
The VAA Melbourne Section is running a Young Beekeeper’s Program for ages 9–16 at the Collingwood Children’s Farm, Melbourne.
Through the course of the program participants will learn about the workings of a hive, see the development of the frame that they will have made, learn how to manage bees, and extract honey from their own frame.
The Program runs from September 2026 to May 2026 on the second and fourth Sunday of each month during school terms. If you miss the start date, drop in anyway!
Sessions run from 11am to 1pm. Bring your own food and drink.
The program kicks off with a frame-making workshop on Sunday, September 13th, followed by an intro to the apiary on October 11th. Protective wear is provided, but please remember to wear enclosed shoes and socks! Don’t forget to pack a snack and a drink. Want to learn more? Drop by the CCF Apiary any Sunday to chat with the team, or email Rob Kerr - robkerr62@gmail.com
