The Royal Australian Mint has released a $2 collectors’ coin to celebrate 200 years since the introduction of the European honeybee.
In conjunction with the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council, the coin was designed to honour the small yet mighty honey bee and Australia’s honey bee industry. 2022 also marks the bicentenary of the establishment of the industry.
The beautiful coin features a honeycomb sphere in the centre, illuminated in a golden yellow colour. Around the edge of the honeycomb are two European honey bees, alongside a selection of native Australian flora including branches, flowers and leaves of the Eucalyptus tree. The coin’s striking design and colour make it an attractive addition for collectors and industry enthusiasts.
There are only 60,000 of the honey bee coin produced and the VAA has secured 100 for its members. The Royal Australian Mint is now sold out.
If you wish to purchase a coin, please note it is ONE PER MEMBER.
These coins are available to VAA members only and we will post to the address recorded in your membership profile.
The price of $37 includes registered postage.
